Did You Know? Our First Skating Rink Opened 56 Years Ago |
Chevy Chase Club’s “ice age” officially began on November 15, 1962, when the new skating rink opened for business. Getting the rink installed and ready to go was no easy feat; seven miles of coolant pipes, monstrous compressors, light poles salvaged from the tennis courts and the purchase of a Zamboni machine all made it possible.

Anup Gupta |
"I've had a career in 5-star hotels and management, but when I joined the club part-time for the summer, I instantly fell in love with its beauty and the family-like atmosphere. The warmth and experiences shared with the members made it feel like a home away from home, and that's why I've happily stayed for 11 years and counting." |

Winter Center Happenings....
Now that Winter Center Project is at an operational stage its amazing to see the member usage of the new space. The bar seems to be one of the main attractions of the project. It is evident that many members use the bar not only for getting a drink, but now use it to enjoy a meal, meet friends after a long day work or an intense paddle tennis match. The bar now has a feel of an actual bar as oppose to just a service bar. It is great to see members enjoy the new space.
Clubhouse Happenings....
In December we launched a new ultra premium wine by the glass selection in the Clubhouse. We are able to serve wines like Opus One and Chappallet by the glass through the use of a new wine pouring device called Coravin. The Coravin allows us to extract wine from the bottle without ever removing the cork from the bottle. Next time you are in the Clubhouse ask for the wine by the glass list!
Lookout for Beer Madness to begin in March. Our annual tournament of beers allows the membership to choose a champion that will reign at all bars until March 2016. Stop by the Tap Room to watch some basketball and have a few brews. We use this opportunity to introduce new breweries and styles. |
